Our client, a leader in manufacturing is seeking a dedicated CNC Programmer to join their team. As a CNC Programmer, you will be part of the Manufacturing Engineering Department supporting production and process improvement initiatives. Job Title: CNC Programmer | Contract to Hire role Location: Grand Rapids, Michigan Pay Range: $35-45/HR What's the Job? Coordinate closely between Design and Manufacturing to ensure new jobs run smoothly from concept through production, resolving ambiguities before they reach the craftspeople. Oversee the development of physical machine setups, fixtures, and tooling, refining machining strategies based on real-world machine behavior and material response. Create and maintain supporting documentation, including setup instructions, machining notes, and tooling requirements to clearly communicate expectations to machine operators and planning teams. Lead the creation and maintenance of executable CNC machine programs for wood operations, translating engineering outputs into reliable production workflows. What's Needed? 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering environment, with a focus on CNC programming, machine setup, and process engineering. Experience in wood operations, millwork, or furniture manufacturing is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline preferred; highly experienced candidates with demonstrated shop-floor CNC skill sets will be considered. Advanced proficiency in CAM programming software and interpreting CAD models. Strong technical understanding of CNC machining principles, including feeds and speeds, sequence planning, and fixture design. What's in it for me?
