CNC Programmer

Role Overview This role focuses on creating and optimizing programs for multi‑axis mills and lathes using GibbsCam software, working with large, complex parts. It is a non‑supervisory position located on‑site in Houston, TX. Key Responsibilities Proficient with GibbsCam software (no experience with other CNC software is acceptable). Programming vertical and horizontal mills with 5‑axis. Programming vertical boring lathe with live tooling. Programming horizontal lathe with live tooling.Comfortable working with large and heavy parts. Create and develop programs from engineering drawings. Determine tooling requirements, control settings, machining methods, and routing steps. Research new machining technologies and tooling to improve existing processes. Maintain program database to distribute programs to machine centers. Assist in design and development of tooling fixtures to improve part production and job flow. Develop manufacturing set‑up, work instructions, and work center descriptions for operations. Provide support to the Maintenance Department to develop detailed instructions for all preventative and predictive maintenance tasks. Collaborate with Business Unit staff to ensure unit performance goals are supported. Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with all support functions. Troubleshoot processes within areas of responsibility. Develop best‑practice manufacturing processes. Critical Competencies for Success Minimum of two‑year associate technical degree or equivalent. Minimum of four years related experience in a manufacturing environment. Minimum of five years experience as a CNC Programmer or Manufacturing Engineer. Experience with fabricated flow and control valves used in petroleum and chemical industries is a plus. Proven ability to collaborate with machinists and fabricators. Read and interpret operating and maintenance instructions, work procedures, safety rules and similar documents. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in creating and validating machining programs. Mathematical skills for arithmetic and geometry. Technical orientation with problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to read engineering blueprints and other technical drawings. Understanding of MRP systems and basic lean manufacturing practices. Flexibility in adjusting to daily priorities. Strong organizational and project management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Pay Range $41 per hour, with pay based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
