Job Description
General Description:
The Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) Surface Grinder Set Up Machinist position is responsible for setting up Horizontal Mills from an unfurnished state and running production parts. Typical tolerance peak is +/-.0001 to +/-.002” on critical features per drawing.
This is accomplished through the following essential functions:
• Read prints and set up sheets to prepare the tooling necessary to set up and run parts.
• Load tooling and programs, then verify the machine is ready to produce.
• Prepare area and stage material, then validate all requirements prior to running the initial part.
• Load and remove material in CNC machine.
• Use measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, etc., to check parts as they come off the machine.
• Identify parts that deviate from standard specifications.
• Run multiple machines, when necessary.
• Adjust offsets.
• Problem solve when programs are not producing desired results.
• Follow both verbal instructions and internal procedures that will be taught.
• Maintain the highest standards specifically applied by our company for aesthetic values on both manufactured parts and the internal environment.
• Maintain constant communication with supervisor about job progress.
• Clean and maintain cleanliness of work area.
• Complete other tasks as assigned.
• Differential pay of $2 an hour is already considered into the range listed
Job Requirements:
• Successfully complete a criminal background check.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
• Flexibility to work overtime as business needs dictate.
Skills & Abilities:
• Ability to load and run programs on a coordinate measurement machine.
• Ability to meet the above essential functions with multiple variations of Surface Grinders without additional training.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to multi-task and work independently.
• Demonstrated teamwork and team building skills.
Work Experience & Knowledge Requirements:
• Experience with manual measuring instruments including digital or dial calipers, micrometers, and indicators.
• Experience with the use of gauge pins and blocks, height stands, and thread gauges.
• Fluent print reading with tolerancing and material specifications.
• Fluent in GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing).
• Experience with MS Office including Word and Excel.
Education Requirements:
• Associates Degree in related discipline strongly preferred.
Monday through Thursday 3:30pm to 2:00am
