Job Details Job ID: 5717067 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: May 15, 2026 4:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: To Be Determined Job Description JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee all aspects of the Dance Program including student‑athlete development and team leadership. Serve as the Varsity Head Dance Coach. Oversee all tryouts, practices, and games. Be knowledgeable about the game, particularly game management, and rules. Develop and execute an effective training program. Motivate and mentor student‑athletes on and off the floor. Instruct and guide student‑athletes in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training needed for individual and team success. Guide student‑athletes to develop moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self‑discipline, and self‑confidence. Foster teamwork, discipline, respect, sportsmanship, and skill development. Ensure the safety and well‑being of student‑athletes. Cooperate in a timely manner with the School Athletic Director and the District Athletic Department regarding requests for pertinent information and periodic requirements. Meet all requirements mandated by the District Board of Education, the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), and the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) relating to the mandated Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) training/certification and the ODE Pupil Activity Permit (PAP). Check the status of academic eligibility for all prospective student‑athletes. Follow the District Athletic Department policies as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria as outlined in the job description. Model the behavior expected of student‑athletes, including attendance to practices and games, positivity, respect, and constructive criticism while upholding program disciplines. Maintain appropriate sideline conduct, including appropriate language, at all times. Accept and profit from constructive criticism and suggestions for improving coaching performance. Recognize the need to be aware and implement all applicable administrative policies set forth by the District Board of Education, superintendents, principals, conference leagues, ODE, and OHSAA. Provide all applicable in‑season training rules and any out‑of‑season conduct rules before the season starts; follow appropriate due‑process procedures when violations occur. Participate in clinics and other programs to improve coaching performance. Participate in school events such as awards night, pep assemblies, and athletic booster meetings. Assist in ensuring the team is well prepared for opponents. Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and supplies. SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: Fundraising experience. Strong knowledge of various dance styles and techniques. Passionate and dedicated to inspire student‑athletes. Previous experience coaching dance preferred. Ability to motivate and inspire student‑athletes. Serve as a positive role model. Demonstrated knowledge and skills associated with the sport. TRAINING/CERTIFICATIONS: Ohio Secondary Teaching Certificate preferred. Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the high school and/or college level preferred. Proof of satisfactory County Police Records Check, State BCII Check, and FBI fingerprint background check. ODE Pupil Activity Permit (PAP). Proof of completion of Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) training/certification.
