2 days ago Be among the first 25 applicants Our client, one of the largest lending companies in the U.S., is hiring for a contract Cobol Developer. This is a hybrid role with 1 day onsite per week in Evansville, Indiana. This role will focus on Cobol development and will scope and design solutions from technical requirements and overall business need. This individual will also be required to deliver QA and testing support as needed and troubleshoot problems and implement reliable change. Contract Duration: 6-Months (potential to convert to FTE) Required Skills & Experience 5+ years of software development engineering experience. Working knowledge in an IBM Mainframe environment. Proficient with COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, and working with IBM Mainframe ZOS toolsets. Experience in technical design writing and documentation. Proficient with usage of MS office / Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint. Desired Skills & Experience Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, management information systems, or a related field. What You Will Be Doing Mainframe toolsets including COBOL, JCL, DB2. Batch and real-time environment support. Daily Responsibilities Participates in and conducts development activities with offshore resources. Conducts technical walkthroughs with all stakeholders. Supports system testing activities and resolves any technical issues. Ability to problem solve, code, test, and deploy application fixes in a fast-paced SLA driven environment. Codes and tests high priority and critical changes utilizing COBOL, JCL, DB2, and VSAM. Handles change requests for implementing changes and owning them until closure. Provides emergency bug fixes to production issues and resolving client research requests. Provides production support by fixing batch process abnormal ends within strict SLAs.
