Role Summary:

Under the supervision of the Commercial Systems/Portfolio Management Team Leader and direction of the VP of Commercial Services, this position will conduct QA & QC audits of the Commercial Banking Departments effectiveness of process controls, adherence to regulatory compliance, accuracy of financial transactions, oversight and updates to internal procedures, and efficiency of operations. They will perform quality assurance and review controls on our business account opening process, on commercial/SBA loan originations, SBA secondary market sales transactions, treasury management origination and treasury management documentation of transactional risk. Findings and recommendations will be reported to the Internal Audit Department and VP of Commercial Services.


What You Will Be Doing:

  • Perform quality assurance and control checks in adherence to a monthly plan and provide findings and recommendations that improve the control environments and mitigate risks.
  • Review procedures to ensure they are published and updated to reflect current processes and controls.
  • Compile and maintain work papers in conformity with departmental quality standards, guidelines, and provides supporting documentation for each audit.
  • Perform evaluations of the Commercial Banking Departments process controls and report findings and recommendations.
  • Proactively seek information, learn about business, and demonstrate the ability to take on complex projects.
  • Perform quality assurance on data entry into the core data processing system and validate proper controls are in place.
  • Report findings and recommends results to the VP of Commercial Services.
  • Maintain open communication and promote teamwork with all personnel.
  • Routinely advise supervising Team Leaders concerning key issues affecting QA&QC.
  • Develop scope of assigned quality assurance and control checks, select appropriate audit procedures to achieve desired objectives, and effectively manage workflow.
  • Must understand and become certified in Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Attend credit union training sessions, conferences, or seminars as approved by supervising Team Leader. Maintain awareness of policies and regulations related to duties and responsibilities.
  • Maintain and protect all sensitive data utilizing the highest standard of confidentiality and professionalism. Consistently display respect for all areas of diversity and levels of knowledge.
  • Display mutual respect, trust, and dignity. Act in the best interest of the credit union; lead by example by always displaying solid ethics and integrity. Control risk and manage duties and tasks in a safe and sound manner.
  • Assist Internal Audit in preparing and gathering information requested by examiners and third-party auditors.
  • Maintain a general knowledge of all Commercial Banking products and services, as well as the activities of departments.

About You:

  • Able to be bonded for business purposes.
  • Able to work under general supervision, as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Able to successfully and professionally communicate both orally, and in writing.
  • Able to prioritize tasks, organize work schedules, and provide direction to subordinates.

What You Will Need:

  • One to three years of experience in a commercial banking department preferred.
  • Proficient with standard office equipment, word processing and reporting, and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work with audit management software for the purpose of planning and scheduling audits, as well as, tracking status of findings issued because of the audits.
  • Basic understanding of accounting procedures as well as applicable laws and regulations required. Prior experience performing internal audits in a credit union or similar sector desired.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
