Role Overview:
The Industrial Heavy Commercial Superintendent will oversee all on-site construction activities, including the management of field operations and subcontractors to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. The role requires ensuring that all construction activities comply with safety regulations, maintaining quality control, and fostering strong relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision & Coordination: Oversee and coordinate all field operations, ensuring the project is completed on schedule and within budget, while meeting quality standards and customer satisfaction.
- Project Planning & Schedule Management: Maintain and manage construction schedules, including short interval production schedules. Proactively identify and resolve potential issues.
- Material & Inspection Management: Order materials, schedule inspections, and manage logistics.
- Client & Stakeholder Relations: Maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and employees to ensure successful project delivery.
- Safety Management: Promote and enforce safety practices, rectify hazards, and ensure all site activities comply with safety and regulatory requirements, including storm-water compliance.
- Project Reporting & Documentation: Prepare daily reports, safety reports, schedules, and manage the punch list for project completion.
- Quality Control: Ensure that all work meets quality standards and specifications. Oversee workflows for crafts, suppliers, employees, and third-party contractors.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor field personnel and subcontractors, ensuring they adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Collaboration & Communication: Conduct weekly progress meetings, assist with job cost reporting, review subcontractor scopes of work, and collaborate with the Project Manager (PM) on scheduling and pre-construction planning.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- 5 to 8 years of experience in heavy commercial or industrial construction
- Expertise in scheduling, field supervision, safety, quality control, and production throughout all construction phases
- Experience with precast, tilt, and other industrial construction techniques
- Willingness to travel across the state as required
- Strong hands-on leadership skills and the ability to manage and motivate a team
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
