High Voltage Operative (11kV AP)Nationwide Sites | Head Office: Hertfordshire | Full Time | £65k–£70k+ + Overtime & On-CallOverviewAn established Independent Connections Provider (ICP) is seeking an experienced High Voltage Operative to deliver contestable electrical network connection projects across the UK.This is a field-based role focused on the safe installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of HV and LV network assets (up to 11kV) across renewable, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure developments.The RoleOperational DeliveryDeliver construction, commissioning, and maintenance works on 11kV contestable connectionsInstall and terminate HV/LV cables and associated plantUndertake testing and commissioning of cables and electrical equipmentSupport remedial and project works across multiple UK sitesAuthorised Person DutiesCarry out HV & LV switching operationsIsolate, earth, and identify points of workIssue and manage safety documentation in line with HV safety rulesEnsure full compliance with DNO/IDNO procedures and project-specific method statementsSite & Stakeholder CoordinationWork closely with project managers, engineers, and DNO/IDNO representativesMaintain accurate site documentation including test sheets and as-built recordsSupport programme delivery through efficient and safe site executionAbout YouQualifications & Authorisations11kV Authorised Person (AP) status essentialCurrent AP certification (IDNO/DNO preferred)HNC in Electrical Engineering (desirable)EUSR SHEA PowerStreet Works & Cable IdentificationIOSH / NEBOSH / SMSTS advantageousFull UK Driving LicenceExperienceMinimum 5+ years in HV network construction or maintenanceExperience delivering ICP contestable worksStrong understanding of HV switching, commissioning, and testingFamiliar with DNO/IDNO standards and compliance frameworksNERS Assessing/Authorising Officer experience highly advantageousPersonal AttributesStrong safety-first mindsetTechnically competent and confident working on live networksFlexible and prepared to travel nationwide with overnight staysAble to support and guide site teams with sound technical knowledgeWhat’s on Offer£65k–£70k+ basic salaryOvertime and on-call payments25 days annual leave + bank holidaysCompany vehicle and fuel cardOngoing training and HV authorisationsEMI scheme (post-qualifying period)Private healthcareDeath in service benefitSummaryThis is a senior, hands-on HV operational role suited to an experienced 11kV Authorised Person looking to work on diverse nationwide connection projects within a growing ICP environment.
