The Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) is on the lookout for a spirited and enthusiastic Communications Intern to join our awesome team! WCRC is a leading organization dedicated to enhancing transportation infrastructure and ensuring smooth, safe travel for all. As a Communications Intern you would gain hands-on experience in public relations, social media management, and community engagement while being part of a dynamic team committed to innovation and excellence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Assists in the creation and distribution of content for various communication channels including social media, newsletters, and the WCRC website.
- Supports the development of communication materials such as press releases, blog posts, and marketing collateral.
- Helps manage and grow WCRC's social media presence by creating engaging content.
- Assists in organizing and promoting WCRC events and workshops.
- Collaborates with team members to brainstorm and develop new communication ideas and campaigns.
REQUIREMENTS
- Currently pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity in social media platforms and Canva tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with video editing and graphic design software is a plus.
- Availability to work WCRC summer hours Monday - Thursday 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
