Overview: Vista Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and reliable Communications Operator to join our team. As a Communications Operator, you will be the central point of contact for hospital staff, patients, and external callers, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all communication systems within the facility.

Responsibilities:

  • Answer and route all incoming calls to the appropriate department or individual.

  • Respond to emergency calls and assist in coordinating appropriate responses.

  • Monitor and operate the hospital's paging system, ensuring timely communication.

  • Relay messages and notifications between departments, physicians, staff, and patients.

  • Assist in coordinating emergency alerts and alarms, following established protocols.

  • Maintain accurate records of all communication logs and dispatches.

  • Provide information to visitors, patients, and callers in a courteous and professional manner.

  • Ensure that all hospital communication systems are functioning properly and escalate issues when necessary.

  • Assist with other administrative tasks as required by the department.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Previous experience in a customer service or communications role preferred.

  • Strong verbal communication skills and a clear phone voice.

  • Ability to multitask and handle high-pressure situations.

  • Familiarity with medical terminology and hospital operations is a plus.

  • Ability to operate various communication systems, including phone, radio, and paging systems.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
