Position Summary: The Data and Systems Coordinator will perform duties related to developing and improving community relations as well as program outcomes in District 79s Pathways to Graduation. The Data and Systems Coordinator will support the school in its efforts to increase and maintain communication between the school and our students, families, staff, community partners, other community organizations, high schools, and colleges. Additionally, the Coordinator will work to ensure that Pathways to Graduation establishes protocols and processes for collecting meaningful student data, emphasizing its impact on community-driven, program-wide systems and policies grounded in both qualitative and quantitative evidence. Performs related work.

Key Relationships:
Works closely with Referral Center staff, educators, Community Based Organizations (CBOs), Principals, Assistant Principals, Director of Strategy and Accountability and key District Office staff


Responsibilities


  • Supports Principals, Directors, and Superintendents with ad hoc data requests, emphasizing improved communication strategies.
  • Supervises daily Referral Center operations in the five boroughs, monitoring data entry, visitor characteristics, and student outcomes while maintaining strong communication.
  • Supports East River Academy Transition Team with Referral Center outreach for court-involved youth, enhancing community relations.
  • Maintains ongoing contact with community-based organizations (CBOs) that are involved with providing services to support the educational programs within Pathway to Graduation.
  • Equips leadership with reports and training for data-driven decision-making, community partnerships, and improved communication.
  • Executes monthly reporting schedules for Referral Centers, College and Career, and Workforce Development programs, emphasizing program outcomes.
  • Leads student and program data integration, fostering connected systems and enhancing communication channels.
  • Monitors and encourages data usage in the field, supporting effective data capture, utilization, and communication with students, families, and staff.
  • Conducts statistical analyses, produces high-level reports, and presents to internal and external audiences, emphasizing community engagement.
  • Oversees design of data systems, liaising with DIIT and NYCPS partners, and maintains Salesforce platform to enhance communication with community partners.
  • Works with the Director of Technology to roll out and support computerized testing, ensuring effective communication channels.
  • Establishes ongoing reporting for staff, emphasizing data-driven program improvements and communication efforts.
  • Provides ongoing support and troubleshooting as needed, focusing on maintaining effective communication.
  • Conducts ongoing systems improvement, emphasizing efficient student intake, placements, and improved communication with stakeholders.
  • Ensures appropriate referrals to D79 schools, NYCPS alternatives, and external organizations, emphasizing clear communication channels.
  • Oversees technology procurement, actively contributes to the Pathways to Graduation cabinet, and collaborates with partners to improve access to services through Referral Centers, emphasizing enhanced communication strategies.


Qualification Requirements:


Minimum

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However, all candidates must have at least one (1) year of experience as described in 1 above.


Preferred


  • Deeply passionate about the work of District 79.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to prepare clear and cogent written documents and deliver presentations, public speaking ability.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to work with all levels of staff and to interact with people of all social and economic levels.
  • Prior experience in a school setting, interacting with students, parents, families, and school staff.
  • Knowledge of school program objectives.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially with spreadsheets and databases; development experience in Salesforce, including Apex coding; knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Strong research skills: able to conduct independent research, and critically analyze and apply research findings to support decision-making.
  • Attentive to detail, extremely well organized, able to work under pressure, and meet frequent and changing deadlines. responsibility with multiple priorities.
  • Record of success in improving student outcomes and capacity and leadership building.
  • Experience working with stakeholders and soliciting outside support and resources.
  • Experience in driving process improvement.

Salary:

$58,964 (New Hire Rate)

$67,810 - $91,533 (Incumbent - 2 years of full-time continuous City service)
