Job Title: Community Organizing Manager - Public Health
Location: Position is based in Albuquerque, NM, and statewide travel is expected
Overview:
Constellation Consulting, LLC is seeking a dedicated and experienced Community Organizing Manager - Public
Health who will lead our efforts in outreach, engagement, and mobilization of community-based organizations
(CBOs) and coalition building and management with a focus on rural areas. The ability to see and interweave a wide
variety of public health issues from nicotine/tobacco treatment to the maternity care crisis to food deserts to
behavioral health needs is highly desired. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in community
organizing, coalition building, and public health advocacy.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement comprehensive outreach strategies to engage Community Based Organizations
(CBOs) in a variety of public health issues.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, community leaders, health professionals,
advocacy groups, and partner organizations to foster collaboration and coordinate collective action.
Work collaboratively with our team to maximize CBO impact in the local communities and across our
multiple projects and funding opportunities.
Lead the formation and development of a coalition of diverse stakeholders, including community
organizations, health agencies, faith-based groups, schools, businesses, and local government entities, with a
focus on rural entities and with the goal of reducing nicotine and commercial tobacco use throughout New
Mexico.
Develop and implement a strategic action plan to guide coalition activities, set goals and objectives,
and track progress.
Coordinate advocacy campaigns and grassroots organizing efforts to advance policies and
regulations aimed at reducing access to commercial tobacco and nicotine products, restricting
marketing and advertising, and promoting nicotine-free environments.
Facilitate coalition meetings, workshops, and events to educate stakeholders about the health risks associated
with certain public health issues including heart disease, diabetes, perinatal/infant care, and other emerging
issues.
Provide training, resources, and support to community organizers, volunteers, and coalition members to
strengthen their capacity for advocacy, outreach, and mobilization.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of organizing activities, track key metrics, and prepare reports to
assess progress, identify challenges, and inform strategic decision-making.
Stay informed about emerging trends, research findings, and policy developments related to our projects
including nicotine and tobacco use, and be able to communicate updates to stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Community Health Education, Social Work, or a related field; Master's degree or comparable experience is preferred. At least 3 years of experience in community organizing or public health advocacy, with a demonstrated commitment to health equity and health equality. Understanding of public health principles and health systems change work. Proven ability to build and sustain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including CBOs, health agencies, youth-serving organizations, and policymakers. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively engage and mobilize communities and advocate for policy change. Experience in coalition building, campaign planning, and grassroots organizing, with a track record of successful leadership and collaboration. Proficiency in Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with organizing tools and software. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed, and willingness to travel statewide at least quarterly. This is a salary position with a salary range of $35,000 - $49,000 annually, and is designed as a 32-hour/week position. This position will qualify for paid holidays, insurance coverage, and retirement plan benefits. The candidate should expect to travel throughout New Mexicos four public health regions quarterly. Meeting and workspace areas are provided, and the candidate should be in-office a minimum of three-days per week (excluding travel days).
