Job description:
The Competency Assessor is a senior, experienced oil and gas professional who cares about people and interacts well with teams. Utilizing proven methodologies, this individual will help to execute a competency assurance program for the Rockies Business Unit (RBU) field workforce. This position will primarily be responsible for delivering competency assessments and supporting the ongoing advancement of a best-in-class competency assurance program. This role is based in Greeley, CO, and serves Chevron at the Rockies Business Unit. The mission of the Workforce Advancement team is empowering the RBU workforce to be productive, successful, and safe.
Key job responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the execution of a competency assurance program for Operations and Wells personnel
  • Assess the relevant workforce members to verify individuals are equipped for success
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to develop and update competencies for a broad range of tasks and responsibilities
  • Develop training plans and resources for identified training opportunities
  • Develop procedures/guides to support Operations and Wells activities

  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor others - passionate about helping other people grow

  • Knowledgeable about performing high-risk activities successfully, including: isolation of hazardous energy, hot work, purging, trenching/excavation, ground disturbance, mechanical lifting, rigging/hoisting, heavy machinery operations, working at heights, electrical safety, machine guarding, forklift operation, HazCom, spill response, scaffolding, man lifts, confined space, and other
  • Prior oil and gas experience strongly encouraged
Required qualifications:
  • Must have a High School diploma or GED.
  • Must have a valid driver`s license.
  • Robust oil and gas construction experience.
  • At least 10 years of related experience in the industry.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Must live within 50 miles of the workplace.
  • Ability to successfully complete a post-offer/pre-placement drug and alcohol screening, background check, physical, functional capacity examination, as well as pre-placement verification of the information and qualifications provided during the selection process.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a diverse team of coworkers, contractors, and internal and external customers.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, and work with minimal supervision.
Relocation Options:
Relocation will not be considered.

Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
