The US Export Compliance Auditor is responsible for auditing export documentation and US Customs declarations to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role involves detailed document verification, data tracking, and root cause analysis for compliance issues. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, experience with export processes, and proficiency in Excel and ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
Key Responsibilities:- Audit 100% of US Export shipments with AES filings, verifying key details such as HAWBs, BOLs, invoices, packing lists, export dates, ports, and carrier codes.
- Audit low-value US Export shipments that do not require AES filing, ensuring all documentation is accurate and properly logged.
- Track and document errors, identify root causes, and collaborate with the export auditing team for corrective actions.
- Ensure timely completion of auditing data elements within 48-hour and 21-day deadlines.
- Log and organize low-value shipments through an export shared mailbox, sort emails, locate relevant documents, and maintain folders in a SharePoint system.
- Monitor compliance KPIs, such as filer errors, export volumes by EIN, monthly filing statistics, and average auditing turnaround time.
- Work with freight forwarders, ERP systems (SAP, Oracle), and ACE systems to support compliance efforts.
- 1-2 years of experience in US Imports or Exports, with a strong preference for export auditing.
- Prior experience in auditing US Customs declarations and export documentation.
- Strong Excel proficiency (filters, basic formulas, VLOOKUPs).
- Ability to track down missing data and ensure 100% completion of audit requirements.
- Experience documenting errors, identifying root causes, and escalating issues for corrective actions.
- Familiarity with export compliance terms such as ITN, ACE, SCAC codes, BOL, HAWB, MB, invoices, packing lists, DOE, POE, and related documentation.
- Knowledge of USHTS and country of origin terminology (does not need to be an expert but should understand the concepts).
- Experience with freight forwarders is preferred but not required.
- Prior ACE system experience is a plus.
- Prior experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) is helpful.
- College degree is not required.
- Experience in global trade compliance and logistics.
- Understanding of US export control regulations and best practices.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
