Job Description

The compounding technician is responsible for overseeing processes in the production of compounded non-sterile drugs while strictly adhering to company policies and procedures as well as USP<795>. 

  • Assists pharmacists with overseeing daily operations of the pharmacy  

  • Assists pharmacists with compounding on non-sterile drugs

  • Comply with New York State and USP<795> regulations, and procedures to help maintain a clean and safe pharmacy such as by cleaning work areas, surfaces and sterilizing equipment. 

  • Support pharmacists in compounding medications (emulsions, liquids, powders, and ointments), completing daily “Compounder To-Do” list and scheduled “Simplify” tasks

  • Assist pharmacists in product ordering by monitoring bulk chemical inventory and alerting pharmacist of items to be ordered

  • Return all chemicals to stock location; wipe everything clean prior to replacing

  • Maintain appropriate records of chemicals used

  • Wash and sterilize glassware and equipment daily

  • Assist in end of day tasks (i.e., packing, garbage, and filing)

  • Monthly inspection of expired chemicals, includes discarding expired meds, wiping down rolling shelves, restocking in alphabetical order

  • Finish and sign logs daily

  • All other duties as assigned

 

Education & Experience: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent 

  • Bachelor’s degree in science related field (Chemistry) preferred 

  • Minimum (4) years of experience in a pharmacy setting preferred 

  • Knowledge of PK Compounder Software preferred

Skills required:

This role requires you to be a self-starter, organized and be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
