Description & Details:

We are seeking a talented computer programmer who has the necessary tools to succeed in a collaborative Linux development environment with a passion for our industry. In this role, you will contribute to NDAWNs code base and website which provides information, analytics, and insight to support decisions within a regional agricultural industry. Together, we will build upon NDAWNs ever expanding weather station network by developing cutting edge solutions to real world agriculture problems through modern analytics.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with NDAWN team members to identify end-user needs, requirements, and implement solutions.
  • Identify and troubleshoot software defects and performance bottlenecks.
  • Assist in the modernization of the NDAWN code base.
  • Assist with maintaining existing NDAWN website, database, and servers.
  • Build user-friendly interfaces and dashboards to visualize and present data insights effectively.

Work Schedule:

Primarily Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Advertised Salary:

$70,000

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, a related discipline, or a Formal or Physical Science with associated professional experience in a computational field
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, C/C++, Shell Scripting/Bash, JavaScript, HTML/CSS and knowledge of and ability to grow in others
  • Proficiency in Linux based systems
  • Experience with SQL relational database systems (SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • A US Citizen or US Permanent Resident or person authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a collaborative development environment and associated practices such as version control (git), testing/validation, and effective documenting/commenting
  • Familiarity with web development and modern web design (UI/UX)
  • Proven ability to be self-motivating and work unsupervised
  • Proven ability to be creative in solving problems
  • Experience in the GIS, agricultural, and/or meteorological industries
