Summary Works on construction projects, to assist with construction, erection, installation, and repair of structures and fixtures of cooling towers, by transferring from one task to another where demands require worker with varied experience and ability to work without close supervision by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned): Knowledgeable of the policies set in the Employee Information Handbook and know the consequences of not following company policy. Demonstrate safety knowledge on all tools they may work with within their area. Assist with marking cutting and assembly lines on materials Assist with the erection of framework Fit and install material as needed Assist with the erection of scaffolding and the assembly of ladders Maintain a clean worksite by making sure worksite is free of debris and trash Roll-out tools at the beginning of the work day and put away tools at the end of the work day Bolt and nail structure as directed Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications Keep work area neat and clean Perform additional tasks as assigned by Foreman and/or Superintendent Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. The employee must regularly team lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, frequently team lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits together girts, columns, structures or structure framework. Working as a member of a crew: Sets up hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural-wood members. Fastens wood members to cable of hoist, using cable, or rope. Signals worker operating hoist equipment to lift and place wood member. Guides member using tab line (rope) in order to guide it into position. Pulls, pushes, or prices wood members into approximate position while member is supported by hoisting device. Pries members into final position, using crowbars, jacks, and hand tools. Aligns bolt holes in member with corresponding holes in previously placed member with driving drift pins. Verifies vertical and horizontal alignment of members to keep them in position until they can be permanently bolted or nailed in place. Safety Knowledge: Employee must demonstrate safety knowledge concerning chemical and/or process hazards associated with work in plants. Including: Lock Out/ Tag Out, Confined Space, Plant Emergency Action Plan, Safe Work Permits, Hole Watch/Standby, Fire Watch, and Fall Protection. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock.
