JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Construction EHS Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Construction EHS Manager/Director by providing EHS oversight of a designated project. This oversight includes compliance with our Client and regulatory EHS requirements as well as development, implementation and oversight/assurance of the site safety plan and contractor' compliance with Company's Site-Specific Safety Program (SSSP) and Company's Safe Work Practices. The Construction EHS Coordinator must be knowledgeable and experienced in working in all facets of a major construction project. Additionally, this individual must be intimately familiar with Company's Safe Work Practices and Company's SSSP requirements for contractors. The Construction EHS Coordinator will work closely with the Project Leadership Team, Vendors, and Contractors to ensure that Company's EHS goals and objectives are met.

Job Title: Construction EHS Coordinator

Pay: $52-56/hr

Duration: 6 months-12 months (may extend)

Responsibilities

  • Enter, publish, and track Observations and LFO's as directed by Manager.
  • Maintain a recordkeeping system for Company Issued Permits on project locations.
  • These include Hot Work, Excavation, Permit Required Confined Space, Lock Out/Tag Out, Line Break, Live Electrical and all others as requested by the Manager.
  • Coordinate and lead safety orientations to educate employees on safety standards and expectations.
  • Conduct safety audits regularly to identify deficiencies and report them to the Safety Manager to find mitigation means.
  • Maintain records and electronic files as directed.
  • Monitor the Incident Investigation Process, ensuring that investigations are closed out in a timely manner.
  • Champion a culture of Operational Discipline within construction that results in a 'Zero-Incident Culture' on the Project.
  • Supports and provides assurance and oversight for contractors, and their subcontractors, who are working on an Company site.
  • Ensure employee', contractor', and vendor' work practices are compliant with OSHA, NFPA, and other regulatory agencies, as well as with company standards and policies.
  • Other duties as assigned to ensure successful project completion.

Requirements

  • 3+ years construction project EHS experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of 29 CFR 1926 Construction Safety Regulations and 29 CFR 1910 General Industry Regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, and database creation and management.
  • Deep functional experience working with MS Excel is essential, including the ability to use formulas, PivotTables, statistical analysis, and the production of Charts/Graphs.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects at the same time and be able to respond quickly to changing priorities.
  • High degree of professionalism and integrity.
  • The ideal candidate will be assertive but professional in their interactions with company and Contractor personnel, at all levels.
  • A proven record of continuous learning as demonstrated through on-going completion of OSHA General Industry/Construction/Maritime or NFPA training courses.

Preferred Qualifications

  • GHST, OHST, ASP or other national or internationally recognized EHS credential
  • CSHT Certification is Highly Preferred
  • Associate or bachelor's Degree.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have completed programs in construction, engineering and/or occupational safety & health.
  • Project Management experience working within a Construction leadership team on a large construction project is a plus.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

Working Conditions

  • The Construction EHS Coordinator must be capable of working long hours in conditions where heat and cold are normal and acceptable conditions on a construction site.
  • Additionally, must be willing to work in an ever-changing landscape where construction leads to commissioning and finally to handover to operations.
  • Must be capable of providing direct tactical and strategic support to Company-led projects.
  • Must be capable of supporting project EHS efforts without direct oversight by EHS Management.
  • Must demonstrate operating knowledge of construction regulations (29 CFR 1926) and Company' EHS requirements, including but not limited to Company's Site Specific Safety Policies and Safe Work Practices.
  • Must be able to work in both controlled construction office environment/construction site/or plant.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to support construction operation.
  • Candidates must be capable of standing, sitting, climbing stairs and ladders.
  • Occasional lifting of 25-50 lbs., as required.
  • Must be able to frequently walk construction site perimeter.
