THE IMPORTANT WORK YOU WILL BE DOING

The Estimator will provide administrative and tactical support for Project Mangers; bringing efficient, high-quality products and services to our clients.

WHO YOU ARE

You have strong organizational skills. You can assist in coordinating and tracking department jobs and projects including: maintaining records and documents, creating work orders, contacting customers, developing proposals, and ordering materials. You are good at creating opportunities and maintaining department schedules. You can pick up and deliver plans when needed. Receiving and responding in a timely manner to customer-related inquiries is necessary. You will also perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret project plans and specifications to determine total costs.
  • Analyze data and factors like labor, materials, equipment, and location to prepare detailed estimates.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to gather pricing and bids.
  • Work alongside project managers and engineering teams to refine estimates and budgets.
  • Maintain an up-to-date database with cost information on products, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Assist in training employees on estimating, takeoffs etc.
  • Assist in the final decision-making process on project scopes and adjustments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an estimator or similar role in the construction industry; minimum of 3-5 years preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and market trends.
  • Expertise in using software such as OST, Bluebeam, and SAGE. 
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Applicants for employment must have valid work authorization that does not require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the U.S.
  • Must pass a drug screening and FBI background check.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Travel to project sites.

YOUR WORKING ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The duties of this job are performed in both an office environment and at jobsites, thereby experiencing some minor to moderate level of noise due to office and machine equipment. May require extended hours to meet customers’ needs. This position requires traveling between jobsites and Brekhus when needed. Brekhus requires all employees who drive their personnel or a company vehicle in the routine performance of their jobs to have a valid Driver’s License. They must also provide proof of valid insurance.
