About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join a leading commercial construction team specializing in Life Sciences, Healthcare, Commercial, Institutional, and Industrial projects. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering complex construction projects by developing accurate cost estimates, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting projects from conceptual design through construction.

The successful candidate will work closely with architects, engineers, project managers, subcontractors, and clients to prepare detailed estimates, manage preconstruction budgets, and identify value engineering opportunities. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality construction solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare conceptual, schematic, design development, and hard-bid cost estimates.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs using construction drawings and project specifications.
  • Analyze project documents, bid packages, and technical plans to determine complete project scope.
  • Develop and maintain accurate project budgets throughout the preconstruction process.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and provide cost-saving recommendations.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, project managers, owners, and estimating teams during project planning.
  • Assist with bid submissions, proposal preparation, and project handoff meetings.
  • Track labor costs, material pricing, subcontractor pricing, and market trends within the construction industry.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and clients.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, scope reviews, estimating discussions, and pricing evaluations.
  • Review contracts, bid documents, and specifications to ensure project compliance and complete scope coverage.
  • Evaluate subcontractor proposals, inclusions, exclusions, and qualifications.
  • Maintain organized estimating documentation and project records.
  • Promote estimating accuracy while considering project logistics, safety requirements, and constructability.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within estimating processes and best practices.
  • Travel to project sites, client meetings, and company locations as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of estimating experience within a general contracting environment.
  • Experience estimating commercial construction projects, preferably within Life Sciences, Healthcare, Commercial, Institutional, or Industrial sectors.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, building systems, materials, and quality standards.
  • Proficiency with estimating software such as Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), Procore, PlanSwift, Sage, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements, construction safety principles, and preconstruction planning considerations.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project teams.
  • Experience in healthcare or life sciences construction is highly preferred.
