Overview Construction Labourers are responsible for performing a wide range of physical tasks on construction sites to support project progress and ensure safe, efficient work environments. This role plays a key part in preparing and maintaining job sites, assisting skilled tradespeople, handling materials, and following safety procedures to help complete residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities Site Preparation & Construction Support Assist in preparing construction sites by clearing debris, setting up barriers, and organising work areas. Dig trenches, level ground, and support basic site layout operations as directed by supervisors. Material Handling Load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment safely. Stack and distribute building supplies to work areas as needed. Manual Labour Tasks Perform general manual labour such as lifting, carrying, and moving materials. Assist with concrete work, mixing, spreading, and basic finishing tasks. Equipment & Tool Support Operate hand tools and, where trained, basic power tools and machinery. Maintain tools and equipment, reporting any issues to supervisors. Safety & Compliance Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Report hazards, unsafe conditions, or incidents to management promptly. Teamwork & Communication Work collaboratively with other labourers, crew members, and supervisors to complete tasks efficiently. Follow verbal and written instructions from the construction foreman or site superintendent. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous experience in construction, general labour, or similar field is an asset but not always required. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy materials and perform physically demanding work. Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions. Reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail. Required / Preferred Certifications OSHA 10 or similar safety training (preferred).
