Job Description:
Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced leader to manage the Construction Materials Testing (CMT) group at their Fredericksburg office. As the Construction Materials Department Manager, you will oversee all aspects of CMT operations, including field and laboratory teams, project deliverables, quality control, and business growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the complete lifecycle of field services engineering projects and laboratory operations.
  • Lead and mentor a team of CMT engineers, project managers, and technicians.
  • Ensure compliance with CMT best practices, safety protocols, and quality control standards.
  • Conduct technical reviews of proposals, reports, and calculations.
  • Oversee department budgeting, revenue forecasting, and financial performance.
  • Set goals for the CMT/Field Services team and provide training to develop staff skills.
  • Support business development efforts through community involvement and client engagement.
  • Foster a positive company culture, promote core values, and drive high employee engagement.

Required Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience, including laboratory testing, construction observation, field quality assurance testing, site grading, and supervision of CMT operations.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and project management abilities.
  • In-depth technical expertise in testing procedures and specifications.
  • Proficiency in managing budgets, forecasts, and financial operations.

Required Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

Preferred Education & Certifications:

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
