Construction Project Engineer Professional Intermediate Onsite About the Job Duration: 9-month contract with possibility of extension Location: Sturgis, SD Pay rate: Hourly Job ID: 23328 This is a full-time W2 position, with no subcontracting or C2C. Responsibilities: Serve as Project Engineer on assigned contracts administered by the Resident Office. Perform routine project tasks independently; elevate complex issues to a supervisor. Participates in all phases of the contract modification process. Must have at least five (5) years of experience meeting the position description in this contract per the base contract. Consult with customer representatives, cost sharing partners, and project managers to keep them advised of progress and resolution of any outstanding problems or potential delays. Arrange and conduct pre-work meetings. Attend and participate in coordination meetings, preparatory phase meetings, and safety meetings. Thoroughly study plans and specifications to obtain knowledge of construction requirements and design criteria. Recommend changes to plans or specifications where needed – deficiencies, differing site conditions, user requests - and provide "lessons learned” comments to designers. Participate in contract modification process - prepare scopes of work for RFP's, assist in preparation of government estimates, and review contractor's proposals. Develop Quality Assurance Plans for projects and ensure that QA Plans are implemented in accordance with regulations. Support onsite Quality Assurance Representative (QAR) with all construction activities – quality, safety, and coordination. Make periodic checks of contractor's work for overall compliance with Plans, Specifications, and other contract and construction requirements. Monitor scheduled progress of all construction activities and phases of construction and advise Resident Engineer of potential slippage or delay. Update status of assigned project(s) in RMS - including potential problems and milestone events. Reviews contractor plans and technical submittals, including progress schedules, environmental, safety and quality control programs, certifications and shop drawings. Prepares correspondence regarding Contractor performance, Requests for Information (RFIs) and other technical issues. Assist in review of contractors' requests arising from disputes and claims and makes recommendations for resolution. Prepares both partial and final payment estimates including the measurement and computation of pay item quantities, verification of materials on hand, and percentage complete of lump sum items. Monitors scheduled progress of all construction activities and phases of construction and advises the Resident Engineer of potential slippage or delay. Qualifications: Engineering Degree (Any Discipline). 5 Years of Experience in Construction Engineering.
