Salary: $140,000–$220,000
Our client is an established water and wastewater construction contractor specializing in general contracting and self-performed subcontracting for complex treatment plant and infrastructure projects. The company has a strong presence throughout California, a growing Colorado operation and a travelling federal team delivering projects across the United States. They are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead a challenging water/wastewater construction project in the Lafayette/Boulder area.
Must Haves
- Senior-level project management experience on water and wastewater construction projects.
- Experience independently managing projects from preconstruction through commissioning and closeout.
- Strong knowledge of treatment plants, pump stations, process piping, equipment, civil, structural, electrical and instrumentation scopes.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, procurement, subcontractors, RFIs, submittals and change orders.
- Experience leading complex projects with self-performed work and multiple trade partners.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and support a developing project team.
- Ability to work in the Lafayette/Boulder area and travel throughout Colorado as required.
Nice to Haves
- Experience on large or technically complex treatment plant projects.
- Background with a general contractor or specialty contractor that self-performs construction.
- Municipal, state or federal project experience.
- Experience with design-build, progressive design-build or CMAR delivery.
- Experience working in active treatment facilities involving shutdowns and tie-ins.
- Construction Management, Engineering or related degree.
- PMP, PE, DBIA, CCM or similar designation.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and execution of a complex water/wastewater construction project in the Lafayette/Boulder area from mobilization through final completion.
- Establish clear project objectives, execution plans, communication protocols and accountability across the project team.
- Manage project budgets, cost reports, forecasts, cash flow, commitments and overall financial performance.
- Develop, maintain and communicate detailed project schedules in coordination with field leadership, subcontractors, suppliers and the client.
- Oversee procurement of subcontractors, process equipment, piping systems, electrical components and long-lead materials.
- Review and manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, claims, contracts, meeting minutes and project documentation.
- Coordinate closely with superintendents and field teams to ensure construction activities are properly planned, sequenced and resourced.
- Build productive relationships with owners, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
- Ensure project work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with contract documents, specifications, quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Lead project meetings and provide clear reporting on safety, schedule, cost, procurement, quality, risks and upcoming milestones.
- Identify emerging project risks and implement practical mitigation strategies before they affect cost, schedule or operations.
- Negotiate subcontractor changes, owner change orders and other commercial matters while protecting the company’s contractual position.
- Support commissioning, startup, operator training, punch-list completion and final project turnover.
- Mentor and develop junior project team members while helping establish strong processes and accountability within the Colorado operation.
- Collaborate with company leadership and teams in California and across the national federal project group to share resources, technical knowledge and best practices.
