Construction Services Project Manager
Location: Crystal Lake, IL
About the role
We are seeking a Construction Project Manager to support our construction group on projects such as roadways, bridges, underground installation, and treatment plants. The role involves assisting with design and client interactions, representing municipal clients in transportation and infrastructure construction projects primarily in McHenry County and surrounding Chicagoland counties.
Responsibilities
Conduct on-site observation of work, repairs, and testing.
Recommend design alterations to improve project quality.
Manage multiple projects successfully.
Monitor progress schedules and shop drawings.
Provide general civil engineering and client service.
Communicate effectively with residents, businesses, and public agency representatives.
Resolve construction conflicts and prepare cost-effective solutions.
Protect owner against defects and deficiencies in the work.
Serve as liaison with contractor superintendents.
Maintain job site records, including daily reports, meeting minutes, shop drawings, and pay requests.
Track time, equipment, and material needs for change orders; review and request adjustments.
Address resident complaints and concerns.
Coordinate with contractors and perform related duties as needed.
Mentor less experienced engineers.
Qualifications
10+ years of progressive construction engineering experience.
Experience on IDOT/Tollway projects required.
Experience with Chicago DOT and METRA projects desirable.
Proficiency with proprietary software (IDOT CMMS, etc.).
Effective oral and written communication with residents, businesses and public agencies.
Ability to travel throughout the Chicago area.
Strong teamwork, written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
B.S. degree in Civil/Construction Engineering with construction engineering emphasis.
Professional Engineering License.
Project Management experience with local agencies, IDOT, Tollways, counties.
Experience supervising staff.
Compensation
Pay range: $100,000 to $130,000, based on skill set, experience, and certifications.
