Content And Social Media Coordinator Apply
Unite NY is seeking a full time Content and Social Media Coordinator to develop dynamic content, build brand and membership support and tell compelling stories of reforming New York’s political system. In this role, the ideal applicant will have the ability to work in a flexible but demanding work environment, supporting the strategic mission of the organization. Developing, editing and deploying organizational content will be an important part of your job. In addition, the successful applicant will be flexible and able to pinch hit across the organization as needed as this organization ramps up its staffing team.
In this role, you should be an excellent communicator with strong attention to detail. This role will require ability to work across various social media and digital platforms and will be best filled by a motivated and enthusiastic individual. Ultimately, your goal will be to help ensure clear communication of our organization’s message across all channels. Hybrid location expected, with some onsite office requirements in Little Falls, NY combined with work from home and travel in New York State.
Responsibilities to include
- Help implement communications strategies by leading and providing administrative support to programs and internal teams
- Draft and edit communications copy (e.g. press releases, publications, newsletters, social media posts)
- Assist in maintaining web content and executing social media strategies
- Update databases and media lists
- Track projects and media exposure
- Prepare presentations and reports
Requirements
Required skills and qualifications
- Educational background in Political Science, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field
- Demonstrated passion for public policy, advocacy and/or pursuing social impact
- Experience as a Communications Assistant, Communication Specialist or similar role
- Understanding of media relations and digital media strategies
- Proficient in Google Suite, basic familiarity with design software (e.g. Photoshop, InDesign) and CMS is a plus
- Solid editing and researching skills
- Excellent communication abilities (oral and written)
- Strong attention to detail in producing error free content and maintaining core databases and reporting
- Organizational skills
- Ability to juggle multiple inputs and projects while being accountable for meeting basic position requirements
Preferred skills and qualifications
- Bachelor/Master’s Degree in Political Science, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field
- Political experience in New York State
- Journalism background
- Experience working with social media and digital advertising
