The Person

As a member of the Harbinger team, the Content Marketing Manager must demonstrate:

The Role

The Content Manager at Harbinger Marketing leads the content team to ensure the creation of high-quality, strategic, and performance-driven content across all partner and internal initiatives. This role owns content strategy, processes, team leadership, quality assurance, and cross-department collaboration, and directly manages the Content Marketing Specialists and creative contractors to execute multi-channel content plans, content calendars, and additional partner requests. The Content Manager ensures that content output aligns with brand standards, achieves measurable results, and supports partner objectives from strategy through execution.

Core Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Management
  • Directly manage, mentor, and develop the Content Marketing Specialists and creative contractors, including setting priorities, providing coaching and feedback, and aligning their work with broader strategic goals.
  • Establish clear expectations, workflows, and performance standards for the content team.
  • Support professional growth and accountability, coordinating regular check-ins, performance reviews, and skill development plans.
  • As processes are developed, oversee department Profit & Losses, overall budgets and strategies for team utilization and profitability.

Content Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and own content strategy across partner accounts and agency initiatives, integrating it into the overall marketing roadmap.
  • Translate business objectives into actionable content plans and editorial calendars with measurable goals.
  • Ensure content supports lead generation, audience engagement, retention, and brand positioning goals.

Execution Oversight

  • Oversee content creation across formats — blogs, email campaigns, social media, sales assets, and more.
  • Review and edit high-impact content to ensure accuracy, quality, performance best practices, and brand alignment.
  • Guide the Content Marketing Specialists in content creation, project management, and distribution workflows.

Interdepartmental & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as the content lead on partner accounts, articulating strategy, presenting insights and results, and gaining alignment on content plans.
  • Engage with Marketing Directors, Marketing Coordinators, and other department heads on interdepartmental projects to integrate content into campaigns, product launches, and performance initiatives.
  • Ensure the Content Marketing Specialist’s deliverables align with the broader campaign goals and timelines.

Process & Operational Excellence

  • Own and evolve the department’s AI-first content workflows, ensuring AI is leveraged for first drafts, ideation, optimization, and efficiency without compromising quality or brand standards.
  • Manage relationships across the entire company to best position the department as one that exists to excellently serve the organization, partners, and individual team members.
  • Maintain documentation and playbooks to support consistency and scalability.

Qualifications

  • Experience in content marketing, editorial leadership, or related marketing roles (agency experience preferred).
  • Proven leadership experience managing content creators and guiding strategic execution.
  • Strong understanding of SEO, analytics, content performance measurement, and content management systems.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally and manage complex projects.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Google Suite, Meta Platforms and Mailchimp.
  • Experience managing automated email campaigns for lead generation and retargeting.
  • Familiarity with AI tools (e.g.,ChatGPT) for ideation and efficiency.
  • Graphic design skills and experience with Adobe Creative Suite are a plus.

Success Metrics

  • High-quality content delivered on time and aligned with strategic goals.
  • Clear professional growth and performance improvement in the Content Marketing Specialist role.
  • Measurable improvements in content KPIs (traffic, engagement, conversions).
  • Strong partner and Marketing Director, and Marketing Coordinator satisfaction tied to content leadership and outcomes.

Salary- $50-75k based on experience
