Job Description

Hiring: Controls Design Engineer (BMS / Data Center)

Location: Pelzer, SC (Onsite)

Duration: 12 Months Contract

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Controls Design Engineer with strong expertise in Building/Facility Management Systems (BMS/FMS) to support mission-critical data center infrastructure projects.

This role involves designing, integrating, and validating control systems for complex electrical and facility environments, including power distribution, UPS systems, and building automation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop FMS/BMS systems for data centers and critical facilities
  • Create riser diagrams, I/O lists, and sequence of operations
  • Develop schematic, detailed, and construction drawings (SD/DD/CD)
  • Design control schemes using PLCs and relays
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and architectural teams
  • Work with vendors and third-party integrators
  • Generate Bills of Materials (BOM) and review submittals
  • Support FAT/SAT, commissioning, and system validation
  • Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and customer specifications
  • Provide support from pre-sales through final commissioning

Required Skills

  • Strong experience in BMS/BAS/FMS design and integration
  • Hands-on knowledge of PLC/SCADA and control systems
  • Familiarity with protocols: Modbus, SNMP, TCP/IP, RS-485
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit
  • Knowledge of data center infrastructure (UPS, generators, MV/LV systems)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 4+ years of Controls/Automation Engineering experience
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • PE License is a plus

Preferred Experience

  • Data center or mission-critical facility projects
  • Exposure to commissioning, site support, and integration activities
