Test Technologist – Control SystemsLocation: Filton (100% on-site) Contract: Until 01/02/2027 (strong possibility of extension) Hours: 35 per week, worked over 4.5 days between 7am–7pm Pay: £58ph Umbrella / £43.36 PAYE Clearance: BPSS + Onboarding Security Checks IR35: Inside of IR35About the RoleOur Client is seeking an experienced Test Technologist to join their world‑class Structures Test organisation. Working within a state-of-the-art aerospace research and test centre, you’ll be part of a team performing structural testing on major aerospace programmes and exciting R&D initiatives including hybrid testing technologies and zero‑emissions projects.This role is hands‑on, varied, and ideal for someone with strong control systems experience—particularly with MOOG Control Systems and Aerotest software.Key ResponsibilitiesOperation, maintenance and calibration of servo‑hydraulic control systems.Working across the structural test pyramid from material coupons (level 6) to large structural assemblies (level 2).Setting up and configuring control systems, data acquisition systems, and hydraulic loading systems.Performing structural tests in accordance with defined processes and quality standards.Supporting test leaders with progress reporting, risk management, and stakeholder coordination.Contributing to innovation, sustainability projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.Collaborating with transnational test centres and internal/external suppliers.Supporting training development and knowledge-sharing within the wider team.Essential Skills & ExperienceStrong working knowledge of MOOG Control System architecture, calibration, and PID tuning.Experienced user of Aerotest software (Test Manager, Test Explorer, SmartBAR).Hands‑on experience with servo‑hydraulic control systems.Background in aerospace, structures testing, or automotive testing.Demonstrable practical engineering experience (experience valued over formal qualifications).Ability to deliver technical tasks to time, quality, and cost requirements.Good communication skills and a collaborative, team‑oriented mindset.If you think this could be a new and exciting career opportunity for you and you would like to learn more or just for an initial, no-obligation conversation please contact me on 07732 694 243 or you can apply directly by following the Easy Apply link and I will contact you as soon as I receive your contact details.
