Position Overview

As the Company Controller, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing our organization's finance and accounting activities. You will be responsible for both hands-on and strategic contributions, overseeing a small team. In addition to managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, we are seeking a candidate with strong leadership skills and attention to detail. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with a dynamic leadership group and make a significant impact.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and analyze accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Conduct budget vs. actual comparisons and provide comprehensive reports to executives.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide strategic financial insights to senior management for informed decision-making
  • Supervise an Accounts Payable (AP)/Accounts Receivable (AR) accountant/clerk, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections, and maintaining compliance with company policies and procedures.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Collaborate with department heads and executive team members to develop and manage annual budgets.
  • Monitor budget performance, analyze variances, and forecast future financial performance.

Cash Management:

  • Oversee cash flow management, including daily cash balance monitoring and future cash needs forecasting.
  • Implement strategies to optimize cash flow and liquidity.
  • Maintain relationships with financial institutions and manage banking activities.

Financial Controls:

  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
  • Conduct regular audits to assess compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Streamline processes and implement improvements to enhance efficiency.

Tax Compliance:

  • Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure compliance with all tax regulations.
  • Accurately prepare and file tax returns in a timely manner.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations that may impact the company.

Risk Management:

  • Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Monitor insurance coverage and assess the adequacy of risk management practices.
  • Implement procedures to protect the company against fraud and unauthorized activities.

ERP and System Updates:

  • Oversee the use and maintenance of the Infor Visual ERP system to ensure optimal performance and integration with financial operations.
  • Lead the annual external audit process, coordinating with auditors and ensuring the timely and accurate completion of audit requirements.
  • Coordinate the updating and upgrading of financial systems and processes to improve efficiency and compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA designation preferred.
  • Proven experience in a financial management role, preferably as an Accounting Manager.
  • Thorough understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (GAAP).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems; experience with Infor Visual ERP or other manufacturing ERP is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities effectively.
