Job Description for Controller

We’re seeking an experienced controller who will have experience as an accountant in our industry, preferably in a senior role. As a strong communicator and skilled financial analyst, this person will streamline our clients budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting processes. The controller will also produce thorough financial-status reports for senior managers to help improve our operational efficiency and aid in our clients continued growth.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of accounting operations including finance, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and reports that reflect the company’s financial status.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and financial reporting standards.
  • Develop and implement financial controls, processes, and procedures to improve financial performance.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance metrics and provide insights to senior management.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial partners.
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team to foster a collaborative environment that promotes growth and development.
  • Assist in strategic planning and decision-making by providing financial insights and projections.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the company's budget and financial forecasting model.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Automotive, light manufacturing preferred

Desired Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and financial management, preferably in the Automotive field
  • Experience in a leadership role, preferably as a Controller or similar position.
  • Experience within the human capital resource, advisory, or procurement sectors is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic financial planning and operational management.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific financial practices, particularly in sectors such as oil and gas, food and beverage, logistics, production, and manufacturing.
