Position Overview We are seeking a hands‑on and strategic Controller to lead the accounting and financial reporting function across our portfolio. This role will oversee all aspects of accounting operations, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, and partner closely with ownership and senior leadership to support business decisions and long‑term growth. The ideal candidate will bring strong real estate accounting expertise, a collaborative leadership style, and a mindset focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and financial close processes Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements across multiple property types and entities Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, internal policies and partnership agreements Manage property‑level and corporate accounting, including consolidations and intercompany transactions Oversee budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis in partnership with leadership and property management teams Support acquisitions, dispositions, and development projects, including financial integration and reporting Coordinate and manage external audits, tax filings and relationships with auditors and third‑party advisors Establish and maintain strong internal controls, policies and procedures to safeguard company assets Drive process improvements, system enhancements and reporting efficiencies Lead, mentor and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous growth Provide financial insights and recommendations to ownership to support strategic decision‑making Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or similar credentials preferred 8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience, with significant exposure to real estate or property accounting Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and real estate accounting principles (CAM, lease accounting, consolidations, etc.) Experience managing multi‑entity structures and complex ownership arrangements Exposure to AppFolio or similar real estate accounting software is important (Yardi, Timberline, Sage, QB, etc.) Proven leadership experience managing and developing accounting teams Experience working with external auditors, tax advisors and financial institutions Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills Hands‑on, detail‑oriented and comfortable operating in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment Why Join Us Long‑standing, stable organization with a strong reputation and long‑term investment philosophy Direct exposure to ownership and the opportunity to influence strategic decisions Diverse and growing real estate portfolio across multiple asset classes Collaborative, team‑oriented culture with a focus on quality and service Opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a family‑owned organization #J-18808-Ljbffr
