We’re looking for a hands‑on leader to own the accounting/finance backbone of an AI‑first technology company. This is a builder’s role, not a caretaker’s position. You’ll own the full accounting function end to end — from journal entries and reconciliations all the way up to revenue strategy, pricing decisions, and the accounting systems architecture that powers a multi‑model marketplace. You’ll be equally comfortable closing the books, designing a revenue subledger with our engineers, deciding how we handle multi‑state sales tax, and bringing an accounting point of view to leadership and partner negotiations. If you’re energized by figuring out problems no one has solved before, leveraging AI to eliminate manual work, and building scalable accounting operations from the ground up, you’ll probably love this role. What You’ll Own Accounting & close — core accounting operations (GL, journal entries, reconciliations, AP, AR, accruals, payroll allocations, balance sheet integrity) and the full month, quarter, and year‑end close. Reporting — financial statements, KPI and margin reporting by vertical and transaction type, cash reporting, and materials for leadership. Revenue, rebates & settlements — define and document revenue recognition across products, rebates, labor programs, pass‑through costs, financing, and technology fees; own partner reconciliations, rebate invoicing, settlements, dispute resolution, and payout workflows. Payments & sales tax — administer Stripe (invoicing, payouts, disputes/chargebacks, refunds, and related controls) and own end‑to‑end multi‑state sales tax — nexus, exemption certificates, Stripe Tax enablement, remittance, and the outside tax firm. Finance systems & automation — own and architect the finance tech stack; lead the revenue subledger and partner with Operations, Automation, and Engineering to automate manual work (including AI‑assisted workflows) and improve data quality. Pricing, treasury & forecasting — act as a financial approver on pricing and fee decisions, run unit‑economics and margin analysis, weigh in on new partner programs, and own cash management, vendor payments, and forecasting. Compliance, team & strategy — tax compliance, internal controls, audit readiness, and external‑advisor management; build the finance team and processes as the Company scales; and bring a forward‑looking accounting perspective to leadership. What We’re Looking For Active CPA required. Masters in professional accounting, master’s in accounting, or similar advanced accounting degree strongly preferred. 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with prior ownership of a full accounting function. At least 2 years of Big 4 public accounting experience strongly preferred. Strong command of US GAAP, month‑end close, revenue recognition, reconciliations, accrual accounting, and financial reporting. Experience with multi‑state sales tax (nexus, exemption certificates, remittance) preferred. Direct experience administering a payment processor (Stripe strongly preferred): invoicing, payouts, disputes/chargebacks, and reconciliation. Comfort owning and architecting finance systems — GL platforms, subledgers/data warehouses, and the integrations between operational systems and the GL. Strong Excel/data skills and comfort working with accounting systems, payment data, operational data, and large transaction sets. High attention to detail, strong ownership, and clear communication. Ability to work cross‑functionally with business, operations, data, and engineering teams. Experience With Any of the Following Is a Plus Marketplace, multi‑model, or hybrid revenue-model accounting Revenue recognition in software or marketplace businesses API‑based financial systems and data warehouses (e.g., Redshift) AI‑assisted workflows (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, etc.) and workflow automation #J-18808-Ljbffr
