We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Controller to join our team in the construction industry. This is a permanent position offering the opportunity to lead our accounting department. As a Controller, you will oversee all aspects of our financial operations, including budgeting, financial reporting, project accounting, and Construction WIP. You will work in a fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding environment where your expertise will impact the company’s financial health and success. Salary: $100,000 - $150,000 per year. Responsibilities Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including designing an organizational structure to achieve department goals and objectives. Direct and coordinate company financial planning and budget management functions. Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget. Direct the preparation of all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, shareholder reports, tax returns, and regulatory reports. Review reports to analyze projections of sales and profit against actual figures, and suggest improvements to the planning process as appropriate. Manage the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, maintain planning and control procedures (including cost accounting), and analyze/report variances. Manage and oversee project accounting and recognize revenue related to Construction WIP. Collaborate with other department managers to support overall department goals and objectives. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal budgetary reporting requirements. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA) strongly preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position, ideally in construction. Proven experience in budgeting, financial reporting, project accounting, and Construction WIP. Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including GAAP. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results. Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections. Working knowledge of short and long-term budgeting/forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis. Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and manage several projects.
