Job Description
     We’re looking for an experienced Controller to join our dynamic and collaborative team. As a key member of a small, privately owned technology company, you’ll have high visibility and meaningful ownership across finance, operations, and strategic planning. This is a hands-on leadership role well-suited for someone who values integrity, adaptability, and a collaborative, entrepreneurial culture.  
      Born out of Northwestern University, TERA-print is a nanotechnology company pioneering desktop nanoprinters that enable breakthroughs across biotechnology, clean tech, and advanced materials. Over the past 10 years, TERA-print’s technology has been adopted by scientists from top research organizations in 8 countries across 4 continents, catalyzing innovation and spawning multiple startups. 
 
Financial Management 
  • Lead all accounting functions including budgeting, cash flow, GAAP compliance, A/R, A/P, invoicing, and inventory. 
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close; prepare internal financial statements and coordinate with external CPA on tax filings. 
  • Set financial controls and drive continuous improvements to support scalability and performance. 
  • Issue weekly financial and management reports to support data-driven decision-making. 
  • Ensure timely payment of company obligations and support operational needs across departments. 
Cross-Functional Support 
  • Collaborate with the production team on purchase orders, invoicing, and payment processing. 
  • Partner with the sales team to review domestic and international contracts and assist with pricing and estimating. 
  • Work with insurance brokers on annual renewals to ensure comprehensive coverage. 
Human Resources & Compliance 
  • Manage payroll, 401(k) compliance, health benefits, and HR administration. 
  • Oversee tracking, reporting, and compliance for government grants and awards. 
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations. 
Technical Skills 
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office (Excel, Teams, Outlook, Word). 
  • Strong command of GAAP principles and financial reporting. 
  • Deep understanding of cash flow management and financial controls. 
Experience & Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred). 
  • Minimum 6 years of accounting/finance experience. 
  • Experience preparing financial statements, managing budgets, and cash planning. 
  • Background in public accounting, international contracts, or government grants is a plus. 
  • Experience with process automation in accounting, reporting, or operations (e.g., using tools like QuickBooks integrations, Excel macros, or workflow automation platforms). 
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to thrive in a fast-changing environment.
