Job Overview: The Controller is responsible for overseeing financial operations including AP/AR, job cost accounting, payroll and cash flow management. Develop and maintain the system of internal accounting controls and financial reporting. Budgeting, forecasting and analysis. Work-In-Progress reporting & General Ledger.  This position will work with senior management and operations managers and will report directly to owners. 

Key Responsibilities

·         Financial Reporting: Oversee and ensure timely preparation of accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports

·         Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasts, working closely with department head to monitor variances and identify areas.

·         Audit Coordination: Liaise with external auditors during annual audits, enduring smooth processes and compliance with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

·         Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations, and manage tax planning strategies.

·         Cash Management: Monitor cash flow, maintain banking relationships, and manage cash forecasting to ensure the company has adequate liquidity

·         Accounting Operations: Oversee the day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll

·         Team Management: Supervise and mentor accounting staff.

Qualifications

·         Minimum 5 years of experience in construction accounting

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance

·         CPA desired but not required

·         Skilled in decision making and multi-tasking

·         Experienced in dealing with banks and other financial institutions

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         Proficient at operating MS Excel 

Nice to haves:

·         Experience with Sage Construction Management, Intacct Accounting software and Miter payroll
