About Company / Opportunity:
This is the kind of role that doesn't come around often, 40 minutes from Visalia in the Central Valley. If you're in the Bakersfield or Visalia area and you've been waiting for a seat at the table — this is it. We're partnered with an internationally recognized manufacturing production company with deep roots in California and a global footprint, and they need a Controller who's ready to own it.
Not oversee it. Not review it. Own it.
You'll be the financial backbone of a multi-entity operation, working side by side with operations and senior leadership in a fast-paced, hands-on environment where your work directly shapes business decisions. If you're a sharp, technically strong accountant who loves being close to the numbers and close to the business — this role was built for you.
Responsibilities:
- Own the full month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process across multiple entities
- Lead consolidation accounting and manage complex intercompany eliminations and reconciliations
- Drive cost accounting functions including inventory valuation, production cost tracking, and variance analysis
- Partner with operations and production leadership to monitor financial performance and surface cost reduction opportunities
- Build and maintain strong internal controls across all accounting functions
- Prepare and deliver financial statements, management reports, and KPIs to senior leadership
- Lead the annual budget process and support ongoing forecasting and cash flow management
- Manage and develop a small accounting team of 2–3, setting the standard for accuracy and accountability
- Ensure GAAP compliance and support external audit preparation
Must-Have Skills:
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with significant time in manufacturing or production
- Proven multi-entity accounting, consolidation, and intercompany reconciliation experience
- Strong cost accounting background — inventory valuation, production cost tracking, and variance analysis
- Deep hands-on ownership of the full month-end close process
- Experience managing or mentoring a small accounting team
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- CPA license or candidate
- Public accounting background
- Experience in a high-volume or commodity-based production environment
