Jobcon Logo Job Description :

Electroflow is unlocking domestic production of lithium iron phosphate (LFP), the battery material that will power an energy-abundant future. Using our proprietary electrochemical process, we collapse an incumbent 10-step brine-to-LFP supply chain into just three, making us on track to produce the lowest-cost LFP on the planet. After raising a $10 million Seed round backed by Union Square Ventures and Voyager Ventures, and being featured in The Wall Street Journal (twice!) and TechCrunch, we’re scaling fast to build America’s largest fully domestic LFP supply chain!

As a Controls & Automation Engineer, you’ll take the lead on automating our extraction process and bringing our full-scale lithium extraction unit online. You’ll design and implement the control systems that power our next-generation electrochemical technology, collaborating with an external contractors and our in-house mechanical and process teams. This is a deeply hands-on role with broad ownership, high impact, and real hardware, perfect for someone who loves building systems that move, react, and make clean energy real.

What you’ll do

  • Own the automation of our extraction process, from pilot-scale design to full-scale deployment.
  • Design, program, and commission PLC-based control systems for our full-size extraction unit, in collaboration with external partners.
  • Build and maintain P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and control architectures that integrate chemical, electrical, and mechanical subsystems.
  • Develop automation for real-time monitoring, data acquisition, and closed-loop process control across all major process units.
  • Troubleshoot, test, and tune control systems to achieve stable, reliable, and safe operations.
  • Lead system validation, documentation, and handoff of control architecture for production scaling.
  • Help establish best-in-class automation and safety standards for Electroflow’s next generation of systems.

Requirements

We’re looking for a builder. Someone who can take full ownership of complex control systems, move fast, and bridge the worlds of electrochemistry, process, and automation. You’ll thrive here if you love solving first-of-a-kind problems and turning early-stage ideas into working, reliable systems.

You’ll do great here if you have:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience designing, programming, and commissioning automated systems (ideally in process, manufacturing, or R&D environments).
  • Strong fluency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar), HMI/SCADA integration, and control system architecture.
  • Deep understanding of Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), process instrumentation, and safety interlocks.
  • Hands-on experience with pumps, valves, flow systems, and sensors, including integration and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, OPC-UA, etc.) and data acquisition systems.
  • Proven ability to work with both internal team and external partners in automation or controls projects.
  • Excellent documentation habits and a proactive approach to process safety and reliability.

Bonus points if you:

  • Have worked in electrochemical, chemical process, or energy technology environments.
  • Have experience taking a system from pilot to full-scale deployment.
  • Are comfortable building and iterating in a startup setting. Quick feedback loops, messy problems, real impact.

You’ll fit right in if you:

  • Are hands-on, curious, and love bringing new hardware to life.
  • Care deeply about sustainability, electrification, and solving climate problems that actually move the needle.
  • Want to work with a small, ambitious team where every day looks different and what you build truly matters.

Benefits

  • Develop and deploy cutting-edge technology with world-class, passionate, driven engineers
  • Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
  • Retirement Plan (401k, IRA)
  • Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D)
  • Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
  • Stock Option Plan
