This role will require international travel to Australasia for extended periods of time.We are receiving multiple requests to support our partners in the Baggage Handling Sector. If you are experienced in BHS, and would be interested in international projects, then look no further.We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to support the commissioning of automated baggage handling systems. The successful candidate will work with Rockwell PLC platforms to develop, troubleshoot, and optimize control systems used within a fast-paced airport or logistics environment. This role involves close collaboration with mechanical engineers, maintenance teams, and operational staff to ensure system reliability, performance, and safety.Start: ASAPRole: Controls EngineerSystem (PLC): RockwellIndustry: Baggage Handling SystemsDuration: Depending on project, between 9-18 monthsLocation: most projects will be done internationally in AustralasiaKey ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain PLC control systems for automated baggage handling equipment using Rockwell systems.Troubleshoot and resolve control system faults to minimize downtime and maintain operational performance.Support commissioning and integration of conveyors, sortation equipment, scanners, and associated automation systems.Modify and optimize PLC logic to improve system efficiency, reliability, and throughput.Diagnose electrical and automation faults using engineering tools and system diagnostics.Participate in system upgrades, expansions, and continuous improvement initiatives.Work closely with maintenance teams to support operational issues and provide technical expertise.Produce and maintain technical documentation including functional descriptions, I/O lists, and control narratives.Ensure compliance with safety standards and operational procedures.Provide on-site technical support during testing, commissioning, and operational phases.Required Skills and ExperienceDegree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.Proven experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting using Rockwell control systems.Experience working within airport baggage handling systems.Strong understanding of industrial automation, control systems, and material handling equipment.Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control system documentation.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under operational pressure.Effective communication and teamwork skills.You are okay with working internationally for longer periods of timeDesirable / Beneficial ExperienceKnowledge of conveyor and sortation control systems.Experience with HMI and SCADA systems is beneficial.Familiarity with industrial communication networks (EtherNet/IP, Profibus, Modbus, etc.).Experience with commissioning and system integration projects.Personal AttributesMethodical and detail-oriented approach to engineering tasks.Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.Strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.Flexible approach to working hours when supporting commissioning or operational requirements.
