Cook Head Start Apply
Head Start Cook shops for, prepares, and delivers healthy meals and snacks to classrooms each day while practicing safe food handling per USDA and Head Start standards.
- Purchase necessary supplies and food and complete related paperwork as determined in consultation with the Health and Nutrition Coordinator, the Nutrition Specialist, and the Site Supervisor.
- Receive orders from vendors, ensuring that proper items have been delivered.
- Prepare meals in accordance with MRDC procedures based on Head Start Performance Standards and the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
- Keep foods at the correct temperatures so that all prescribed safety procedures are maintained.
- Ensure that all children with food allergies or other dietary needs receive the proper food daily.
- Help develop and then follow standardized recipes using portion control methods, including the weighing/measuring of meal components.
- Assemble meal components, utensils, and paper products for distribution to classrooms at appropriate times.
Requirements
- The Head Start Cook must have, at a minimum, a high school diploma or GED.
- Must have at least two years of cooking experience for large or small groups.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must pass a criminal background check in MD and surrounding states.
Starting hourly wage $20.00
