With a strong foundation and a forward-thinking approach to technology, we are expanding our financial leadership team to support our multi-entity growth strategy.Position OverviewWe are seeking a Corporate Accountant / Assistant Controller to lead day-to-day accounting operations and support strategic financial initiatives. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a passion for automation, accuracy, and scalable financial systems. You'll work closely with our finance leadership to manage the full accounting cycle, ensure compliance, and prepare for future expansion. This is a hybrid position that requires a regular onsite presence in Alpena, Michigan. Applicants residing in Michigan will be given preference. Key ResponsibilitiesReconcile all Balance Sheet accounts monthly.Manage Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable processes.Receive and apply customer payments accurately.Utilize Business Central (M365 ERP) and Ramp expense platform.Process payroll using UKG, ensuring regulatory compliance.Maintain fixed asset register and depreciation schedules.Prepare journal entries, accruals, and adjustments for month-end close.Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.Monitor daily cash flow and implement fraud prevention measures.File quarterly income taxes, sales/use taxes, and other regulatory reports.Support audit preparation and liaise with auditors and third parties.Maintain internal controls and organized financial records.Assist with financial operations for new corporate entities.Skills NeededStrong proficiency in accounting software (Business Central, Ramp, UKG).Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and formulas.Familiarity with AI tools like ChatGPT, Copilot, and workflow automation.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Strong organizational and time management abilities.Knowledge RequiredBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.CPA, CMA, or CFE certification preferred.Deep understanding of GAAP and audit processes.Knowledge of multi-entity accounting and tax compliance.Experience with payroll systems and fixed asset accounting.Ability to ImplementApply accounting principles to real-world financial operations.Use technology to streamline and automate accounting workflows.Ensure accuracy and compliance across multiple entities.Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external auditors.Adapt to evolving systems and support scalable growth.BenefitsCompetitive pay based on competency.100% employer-paid health insurance and HSA for employees.Flexible paid time off and holidays.401(k) with employer matching.Discretionary bonuses.Why Join Us?This is a unique opportunity to take on a pivotal role in a company that values innovation, responsibility, and growth.
