Salary Range: $53,000.00 to $67,000.00
The anticipated salary range represents the estimated base pay for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors, and may vary from the posted range.
The Role
The HII Corporate Accountant 1 is responsible for supporting corporate general accounting duties and performing daily operations of corporate accounting functions, including month‑end close, consolidation, preparation of account reconciliations and journal entries, process disbursements, expense allocations, intercompany transfers, and performing variance analysis to ensure accuracy and compliance. This position will also support preparation of filings for the Securities and Exchange Commission (10Q, 10K, 11K, 8K) and other regulatory filings by following HII’s policies and accounting practices to ensure accurate and reliable data necessary for GAAP and SOX compliance. Candidate must have the ability to effectively multi‑task and maintain a strong positive team‑oriented environment.
Responsibilities
Draft and record journal entries in general ledger, including intercompany transfers and expense allocations.
Prepare accounts reconciliations and variance analysis to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Adhere to internal controls, policies and procedures around financial transactions and processes.
Support the accurate, timely and complete submission of the company’s financial statements in support of SEC filings.
Support year‑end audits and interim reviews.
Assist with other projects and duties as assigned.
Develop and maintain relationships with individuals across the organization to resolve accounting and reporting issues and open items.
Must Have
Bachelor’s Degree and 0 years of relevant exempt experience.
Nice to Have
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Experience with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
Strong interpersonal skills (verbal, written)
Advanced analytical skills
Ability to work with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks
