Job Description:

The Correctional Psychiatric Technician (LPT) provides direct mental health care and psychiatric support services to incarcerated individuals within a correctional facility. Working under the supervision of a Psychiatrist or other licensed healthcare professional, the LPT plays a vital role in delivering safe, therapeutic, and rehabilitative care to patients with behavioral health needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor, assess, and document the mental health status of incarcerated patients.

• Administer prescribed medications, including psychotropic drugs, and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions.

• Assist in crisis intervention, de-escalation, and suicide prevention measures.

• Observe and report changes in patients’ mental, emotional, or physical condition to appropriate clinical staff.

• Facilitate or support therapeutic activities and group sessions under clinical direction.

• Maintain safety, order, and security standards while delivering care in compliance with institutional protocols.

• Complete routine documentation, including daily progress notes, incident reports, and medication records.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans.

• Ensure compliance with all facility policies, HIPAA regulations, and state licensing standards.

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Active and unrestricted California LPT license

• Current BLS/CPR certification.

• Minimum of 1 year of experience

• Strong communication, observation, and documentation skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-security environment.
