(1)RN  A 2 - Correctional Registered Nurse - Expert (795627)      2nd Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM - Every Other Weekend
\n13 - 26 week contract 
\n4/23 or 4/30 start 
\nJob Description \n\n\nRole Description:
\n• Provide nursing care and treatment for inmates and detainees in Commonwealth correctional facilities.
\n• Serve as charge nurse, staff nurse, or assessment coordinator.
\n• As charge nurse: direct and coordinate nursing care, assess staff and equipment needs, supervise paraprofessional/non-professional nursing personnel, and ensure proper service coordination and documentation.
\n• As assessment coordinator: develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans, coordinate care with nursing staff and interdisciplinary teams, and meet with residents and families as required.
\n• As staff nurse: provide professional nursing care, may manage specialty areas (infection control, quality improvement, risk management).
\n• Receive assignments via oral or written instructions and exercise independent judgment in applying professional nursing practices.
\n• Work is reviewed by RN supervisors, physicians, or dentists for quality and adherence to standards.\n\n\n\nRequired Competencies (includes but not limited to):
\n• Airway insertion, CPR, first aid, catheter care/insertion, AED, oxygen administration, IV therapy, heparin lock insertion/irrigation, medication administration (oral, topical, injectable, suppository), vital signs, nursing protocols, ambu bag usage.
\n• Audiogram and telebinocular testing, universal/standard precautions, documentation on Medication Administration Records.
\n• Tuberculin testing, order transcription, O2 mask/nasal usage, peak flow meter, pulse oximeter, respiratory mask, suctioning, restraints, specimen collection.
\n• Ventilator care, urine dipstick, wound culture, anti-embolic hose, arm sling, binders, traction, decubitus care, drains, dressing changes, ear/eye irrigation, enemas, EKG, glucometer usage.
\n• Hoyer lift technique, nasogastric/gastrostomy tube insertion, irrigation, and feedings, jejunostomy, nebulizer treatment, nephrostomy care, neurological checks, ostomy care, suture removal, vaginal douche, sterile technique, wound care.
\n• Blood pressure monitoring, tracheostomy care, full body assessments including mini mental status exam, and development/completion of Plans of Care.
\n• Must function within standards of nursing practice at all times.
