Robert Half is looking for a meticulous and analytical Cost Accounting Analyst to join our client in the Ames, Iowa area. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the financial success of a dynamic manufacturing organization through detailed cost analysis and reporting. Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed analysis of manufacturing costs, including labor, materials, and overhead, to identify opportunities for cost improvement.

• Prepare comprehensive cost reports, reconciliations, and schedules to support financial planning and decision-making processes.

• Collaborate with finance and operations teams to investigate cost variances and recommend actionable solutions.

• Assist in the development and monitoring of manufacturing budgets to ensure resources are allocated effectively.

• Maintain compliance with internal controls and accounting standards related to cost accounting and inventory management.

• Provide insights to management by analyzing fluctuations in costs and their impact on profitability.

• Partner with cross-functional teams to enhance costing procedures and improve the accuracy of financial reporting.

• Participate in special projects aimed at optimizing operational performance and aligning financial strategies with organizational goals.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• At least 3 years of experience in accounting or finance, with a focus on manufacturing cost accounting.

• Proficiency in cost accounting principles and advanced Excel skills.

• Experience with ERP systems

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to evaluate complex cost structures.

• Effective communication abilities to present financial findings to non-financial stakeholders.

• Demonstrated problem-solving skills to identify inefficiencies and implement corrective actions.

• Familiarity with standard costing practices and processes within a manufacturing environment.
