Position: Cost Engineer Electromechanical parts

Location: Auburns Hills, Michigan

Mode of Hire: 3+ Years Contract

Essential Technical skills:

  • Position 1: Should costing and process knowledge of Wire Harness, Capital Harness XC, Battery, Alternator, Starter Motor, HPCs, PCBs, ADAS Systems, Clusters, Heads-up-Displays, Electronic Components.
  • Position 2 to 4: Should costing and process knowledge of Wire harness, Capital XC, Batteries, Starter Motors, Alternators, PCBs, ADAS Systems, Heads-up-display, Electronic Components, Switches, Key FOB, ECUs, HPCs.
  • Activity based costing experience.
  • Negotiation and collaboration with global suppliers
  • Good presentation and MS office skills

Should Cost, Change Request Cost Analysis & Sourcing Support:

  • Develop Should Cost for new & modified purchased system parts by applying the appropriate cost method.
  • Evaluate engineering changes to establish should cost for the change and identify the cost drivers for variable and supplier tooling for the cooling system parts.
  • Provide purchasing with support during supplier negotiations through analysis of supplier's price breakdown detail and "should cost" analysis.
  • Periodic Supplier visits to maintain & improve internal know-how of manufacturing processes & best practices.
  • Identify potential cost optimization opportunities and support company technical cost reduction activities.
  • Provide global component cost comparison analysis by working with Product Cost Engineers from other regions.
  • Develop the cost structure for component standardization plans.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Must Have at least 4 to 8 years of work experience from Automotive OEM or Automotive supplier industry (similar commodity) background with Costing Experience

  • Automotive cost reduction/ Should cost experience.
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong Analytical and quantitative skills with ability to draw decisions using data and metrics.
