Cost Estimator/Research AnalystThe Space Rapid Capabilities Office (SpRCO) in Albuquerque, NM is searching for a well-qualified candidate to fill the Cost Estimator/Research Analyst position for SpRCO. This position is located in the National Capital Region.Description of Position: Serves as a senior analyst in the Space Rapid Capabilities Office with matrix authority to the Air Force Cost Analysis to develop non-advocate cost assessments in building an Air Force Service Cost Position (SCP) to support major weapon systems and automated information systems for a Defense Acquisition Board (DAB) milestone decision review for reporting to Congress as the Weapon System Budget; develops or evaluates mathematical cost models for us in developing cost estimates; develops and maintains databases of historical cost information on previous weapon systems, information systems, and related software; develop decision information briefings for senior DoD and USAF decision makers on weapon systems, information systems, and software; supports the United States Air Force Planning, Programming, and Budgeting System with special analyses related to acquisition of information systems.Position Responsibilities:Executes Non-Advocate Cost Assessment (NACA) Program Taskings. As a member of a team, performs routine, continuing cost analysis assignments and basic cost estimating tasks associated with the preparation of system cost estimatesExtracts and organizes raw cost data under general direction from the team leader, conducts basic mathematical analysis of program information, and assists other analysts in the collection, development, and implementation of cost related information.Provides support to the Director, Technical Director, and Production Control Chief in development of cost databases, parametric relationships, cost estimating software and documentation, and research reports.Analyzes and evaluates products of subordinate level Air Force research and cost analysis organizations. Verifies assumptions and estimating relationships for consistency with Headquarters data, and the adequacy of treatment of data in reaching conclusions on costs.Desired Skills/Expertise:Unlimited Warrant or the ability to obtain and maintain an unlimited warrant is required; SpRCO will assist with obtaining the unlimited warrant if needed.Employees must meet Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements (BUS-CE Advanced Level) and the DoD Financial Management certification within required timeframes after appointment.Previous experience as a Cost Estimator in a government agency; knowledge of cost estimating toolsStrong oral and written skills, past briefing skills to senior leadership desiredQualification Requirements:College degree, which includes at least 24 semester hours in any combination of the following is required: operations research, mathematics, statistics, mathematical logic, science, and other subject matter courses which require substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics, of which 3 semester hours must be in Calculus.Conditions of Employment:Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Security ClearancePosition requires current or pre-employment drug testingOccasional travel away from regular duty location may be required.May be required to work irregular duty hours including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.Employees may be subject to an initial or subsequent polygraph as a condition of employmentFor questions regarding this position, please contact Mr. David Rodriguez at 505-853-2415.
