Job Description: Costing & Budgeting
1. Overview:
The Costing & Budgeting Analyst is responsible for providing accurate and timely cost and budget data to support strategic decision-making and business operations. This role collaborates closely with various teams within the organization to ensure optimal resource allocation and financial efficiency.
2. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain cost accounting systems and processes
- Prepare detailed cost estimations for products, services, and projects
- Analyze costs and identify areas of potential savings
- Create and monitor budgets to control expenses and ensure financial targets are met
- Track actual costs against budgets and report on variances
- Conduct periodic cost and budget reviews to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
- Provide cost and budget data for financial reporting, forecasting, and decision-making
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., finance, operations, sales) to gather data and align cost and budget models
3. Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and cost accounting techniques
- Proficiency in cost modeling and budgeting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to create and interpret financial reports and dashboards
4. Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in cost accounting or budgeting
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification preferred
5. Skills & Experience:
Costing:
- Expertise in cost classification, allocation, and analysis
- Understanding of different costing methods (e.g., activity-based costing, standard costing)
Budgeting:
- Ability to develop comprehensive budgets
- Experience in variance analysis and budget control
- Knowledge of budgeting best practices and regulatory requirements
