Job Description
The Credentialing and Privileging Specialist is responsible for completing credentialing, privileging, enrollment, proctorship, and orientation activities for the Medical Staff and other providers. The role also includes acting as a recording secretary for applicable department meetings, as well as planning, coordinating, and providing support to staff as needed.
Essential Functions:

Process new and reappointment applications, including:

Board certifications, state licenses, credentials verification, exclusion checks, etc.

Support the credentialing and privileging process alongside the Medical Staff Coordinator.

Communicate information and requests to the VPMA, Medical Staff Coordinator, and other department staff.

Compose correspondence, memos, and reports professionally and accurately.

Coordinate orientation and proctorship for new physicians and practitioners with privileges.

Monitor, maintain, and report expiration dates for physician and practitioner licenses, insurance, DEA numbers, TB test results, and other required items.

Prepare agendas and record/transcribe minutes for medical staff department meetings, committee meetings, and Executive Council meetings.

Apply for and maintain Federal, State, and other third-party payer professional provider numbers for employed or contracted providers.

Oversee and maintain the provider enrollment database, ensuring task management and communication.

Complete enrollment, re-enrollment, and change applications accurately and on time.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education

Required: High School Diploma/GED Equivalent in General Studies
