Job Summary:
The Multimodality Technologist, under the supervision of a Radiologist, performs diagnostic imaging procedures in two or more imaging disciplines. A minimum of 25% of responsibilities will be in advanced imaging modalities such as Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Nuclear Medicine (Nuc Med), or Interventional Radiology (IR).
The technologist provides quality imaging services to ambulatory and hospital patients as ordered by a physician or other licensed provider, ensuring adherence to established imaging protocols and safety standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic imaging procedures in multiple modalities with a focus on CT and Radiography (X-ray).
- Prepare and position patients for imaging procedures, ensuring comfort and safety.
- Operate imaging equipment and monitor patient condition during procedures.
- Follow prescribed imaging protocols and adjust technical factors as needed to ensure optimal image quality.
- Evaluate images for diagnostic quality and accuracy.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation within the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Ensure compliance with departmental, state, and federal regulations.
- Provide patient education regarding procedures and radiation safety.
- Assist radiologists and other healthcare providers with image-guided procedures as required.
- Maintain continuing education requirements for certification and licensure.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
Experience:
- Less than 1 year of experience required.
Licenses / Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS): Required within 30 days of hire or transfer.
- Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT): Licensed by the Texas Medical Board (TMB) as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (unless assigned to MRI or Ultrasound only).
- ARRT Certifications (Required):
- ARRT-R (Radiography)
- ARRT-CT (Computed Tomography)
- Additional approved modalities include:
ARRT-MR, ARRT-M, ARRT-N, ARRT-S, ARRT-VI, ARRT-BS, ARRT-BD, ARRT-CV, ARRT-CI, CNMT, RDMS (AB, BR, FE, OB, PS), RVT, or ARMRIT.
Must hold certification in at least two imaging modalities, with 50% of work performed in the secondary modality.
